SWEET Crystal notched its first victory at the expense of JSY Countertrade 81-69 while AACI Trading poured it on in the 4th quarter to neutralize Basecom 89-73 in the FIl-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 1st conference inter-company tournament played Wednesday at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
AACI Trading’s Robbie Jalando-on delivered 16 of his game-high 28 points in the penultimate quarter as he singlehandedly outscored Basecom who can only manage to score nine points against the 28 points by Trading.
Trading was in the driver’s seat at the break 49-42 as Jeremy Coo, Danny Boy Uy and Jalando-on had double digit output combining for 33 points, backstopped by Keith Banzon’s three treys against Basecom Allen Uy and Biboy Uysang with 11 and 8 points respectively.
Basecom temporarily grabbed the lead in the third quarter 64-61 behind Ervin Tan’s 8 points. But the first victory of AACI Trading could not be denied as Basecom could not stop Jalando-on in the payoff quarter.
In the curtain raiser, Jsy Countertrade got a balance output from eight of their players scoring at least four points led by Kevin Hinolan’s eight points to stay in front at the half 41-39.
Carl John Oquindo and Toffel Tan delivered nine and 7 points, respectively for Sweet Crystal.
But Sweet Crystal grounded Countertrade in the second half as Ralph Richard Tan knocked down three treys and Oquindo scored 6 points to take a 61-56 advantage in the third quarter.
Sweet Crystal continued to ride its momentum in the payoff quarter as Atty. Jubert Katalbas and Oquindo combined for 17 points to seal its first win. (with reports from Stephen Tan)
