HUNDREDS of age-group footballers from across the Visayas will converge at the San Carlos City FC field to compete in the upcoming Charter Day Football Festival on June 28 and 29.

These aspiring booters are ages 3, 4 and 5; 6- 8 years old; 9-10 years old; 11-12 years old; U14, U16 (boys and girls); Women’s Open, Men’s Open and the 38 Up.

Coach John Carmona of the San Carlos City – Negros FC said that clubs that have already confirmed to send teams are from Bacolod Zion FC, Don Bosco- Victorias, Iloilo, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Negros Occidental and local teams from San Carlos City.

“More teams, which will play in a 7-a-side format, are expected to confirm next week,” Carmona added.

The football festival is bankrolled by the San Carlos City-Negros FC headed by Mayor Gerardo Valmayor Jr. through the City Sports Office.

Meanwhile, the three San Carlos City-based players of the U14 Philippine Team, which finished silver in the AFC U14 Regional Championship in Vietnam, will pay a courtesy visit to Valmayor.

National team skipper Tenelyn Espana Otom, Tejanee Isulat and Princess Beth Caparida have become instant celebrities for being chosen to the PHL XI which came up short of making history in football.

The Filipinas were impressive in the elimination round and the semi finals but Thailand proved better winning 2-1 in the finals.
The Philippines was rewarded with the Fair Play award and Joyce Semacio of Davao was voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
