Monico Cup q'final knockout tomorrow

LAST year's runner-up Barangay 19 will be challenged by neighbor Barangay 18 when the quarter final knockout phase of the 8th Monico Cup takes centerstage at Bays Center in Bacolod City Saturday.

Game time is 3:30 p.m., preceding the match between Handumanan and Barangay 10 at 5 p.m. Maui Huelar's Barangay 35 faces Singcang-Airport in the mainer at 6:30 p.m. with all teams hoping to win and advance outright to the semifinals.

The loser in Game 1 (Barangay 19 vs Barangay 18) will meet the loser of Game 3 (Singcang-Airport vs Barangay 35) on Sunday (July 6) at 3 p.m. Loser of Game 2 (Barangay 10 vs Handumanan) will square off with the loser of Game 1 on Saturday (July 12) at the same time.

On July 13, losers in Games 2 and 3 complete their round-robin affair and the team with the most number of wins or having the highest quotient (in case of tie) will take the number four spot in the semifinals.

A meeting among semifinalists is set on July 16, 9 a.m., at the Office of Youth and Sports Development with tournament manager Jack Marañon and Monico Cup over-all coordinator Art Puentevella.
