BACOLOD City-hailed Genesis “Azukal” Servania and Bago City-born “King” Arthur Villanueva are all set to make another chapter in their career as they are scheduled to see action for the “Pinoy Pride 27: Duel in Dubai” on August 29 at the Dubai International Convention Center.
The two champions from Negros Occidental are flying to Dubai two weeks before their scheduled fight.
Servania (24-0, 10KOs), the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-continental super bantamweight champion and WBO Asia Pacific “Fighter of the Year,” said in an interview yesterday over Aksyon Isports of dyEZ Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod that they are currently in tough preparation at the ALA gym in Cebu.
“We are working hard to make sure that we’re ready for this fight,” the Barangay Punta Taytay pride said.
"Azukal" will defend his belt against former two-time world title challenger Jose “Matador” Cabrera (22-4, 10KOs) of Mexico in the main event.
Servania described Cabrera as a tough boxer and should not be underestimated for his record tells how good he is.
Fighting in a foreign land is not a problem for Servania as he had already fought in Macau.
“I don’t look at it as a problem, the Filipino crowd will be a great moral booster for me during the fight,” he said.
Meanwhile, Villanueva (25-0, 14KOs) is set to clash against Nicaraguan Henry “El Crespo” Maldonado (18-3, 13KOs) for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) International junior bantamweight title.
Also seeing action in the supporting main event is Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista (35-3, 25KOs) against Mexican Juan Jose “Piquet” Martinez (19-1, 15KOs) in a non-title bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
