SHARP-Basketball Unified Sports Group proved to be unforgiving hosts by beating Dumaguete Professionals and 40 Aces of Cebu in a pair of friendlies at JGC Activity Center in Bacolod City Saturday.
The Huskies nipped the Marals of Dupros, 74-73, in the 35Up category while its 45Up counterpart shaded 40 Aces, 70-69 in a pair of cliff-hangers.
Koko Fuentebella hit 19 points while Ariel Tornilla added 10 in a winning effort, getting support from Hermi Derwil and Garry Garcia who sank 10 each and John Tumamot who added seven.
The rest of BUSG scored not more than six points each but enough to enjoy the fellowship dinner which followed at Apollo Restaurant at Shopping.
Visiting coach William Ong relied on center Jerry Silot who topscored with 20 points and Rodney Ong who hit eight markers. Armand Morana and Albert Zapanta added seven each and all other Marals scored not more than five points.
The 40 Aces were led by Melvin Baclay's 15 points all from the arc and Pol Dayoja's 10 from the perimeter. Ric Anckermann and Dante Samonte dropped six points apiece while Alan Igpit, Steve Leonidas, July Iron and Bords Basalo contributed two each.
Fred Camacho, Boy Tionko, Ikee Ibon and Dong Tolentino scored too working in the inside.
The Huskies offense was spearheaded by Rey de Guzman's 15 and Ireneo Morales' 13. Dagol Flores, Toto Plagata, Moises Padilla, Adrian Melocoton, Jerry Bayles and Neil Marter shared in the scoring.
Vic Dueñas, Rene and Winnie Antones, Jovito Yasay and Boy Ciocon finished the game with enough spunk for a double win.
Adviser Bing Soyao and the Huskies have been invited by Basalo and Ong for another Tri-City before the year ends. (HGD)
