TEAM Boysen are not just ordinary boys in the block.

This squad managed by Architect Christian Yu dropped a bomb on their opponents as it coincided with ATOM (August 21 Movement) celebration in grabbing the highest single and team triple in the opening of 2014 Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (Scoop)-Bacolod Mix Rated Trio Bowlfest at Negros Super Lanes at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Acquiring a rated bowler more than boosted the chances of the non-rated champion Boysen powered by Kami Mga Huben (KMH) as it looked easy scoring a triple 1,078 pinfalls and a single of 369.

Yu assigned Otoy Jardio to anchor Boysen/KMH composed of Edgar de Leon, Odong Paran, Joval Damasco, Toto Flores, Rockie Elegado, and Sonny Elegado and the result was just outstanding.

"This bowlfest will open doors to local rated players or Class B unlike in the previous competitions which catered only to non-rated bowlers," tournament director James Toga said.

Toga, vice president of Scoop-Bacolod, pointed out that a handicap of +4 pinfalls were in effect for players who are classified as non rated or "C" which includes senior citizens, ladies and students.

Closing in not far behind are multi-titled Retro Bowlers headed by Iran Pielago with 1,045 pfs and powerhouse Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers Inc. (ASSFBI)/Silverado led by Cecil Silverio with 1,042 pfs.

Rounding up the top 10 are RJ Stars - 992, Bago City - 984, ASSFBI/GEETCY Trucking - 978, HTL - 967, OMJB - 911, 69Ners - 905, and GR - 888.

The eight-round bowling series is supported by Councilor Carl Lopez, Barangay Captain Rosinie Distrito, Gaisano Grand Bacolod Mall, Royal Thai Beauty and Wellness Spa, NSL with media partners Negros Daily Bulletin, Watchmen Daily Journal, and Sun.Star Bacolod.

Round 2 resumes Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
