RAUL Suyod of Bago City and Clark Daniel Bautista of Bacolod City were chosen by Blackwater Sports, one of the league’s expansion teams in the recent 2014 Gatorade PBA Annual Draft held at Robinsons Midtown Manila.

The 6’6” Suyod was seventh pick in the third round (31st over-all) while the 5’10” son of Tata Bautista was selected 10th pick in the same round (34th over-all).

Suyod, a former West Negros University Mustangs forward, suited up under Troy Sarabia in 2009 season of Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association before University of the Philippines (UP) took him in under Coach Ricky Dandan, Sarabia's coach at USLS.

“I’m happy for him (Suyod). I’m grateful for what he has achieved, reaching his dream to be in the UAAP and finally to the PBA. I know that Sir Tony (Agustin) and the WNU sports office personnel are happy because another Wesnecan succeeded in the PBA draft,” Sarabia said.

Playmaker Bautista, of Barangay Estefania and a former University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers skipper, was one of the sports awardees last year during Bacolod City’s Charter Day.

However, since both cagers were picked in the third round, they have slim chances of entering the final roster unless the coaching staff and owners will be impressed by their performance during the training camp.

“But they should not lose hope. They must work harder during the team’s practices to prove they are worthy to be in the team. If they don’t get a contract they must be patient and become a practice player for any team. This will give them the opportunity to get a chance to be in the team’s roster,” said Barangay Bata councilman Leo Bat-og, who played for the Negros Slashers in the Metropolitan Basketball Association and suited up for Sta. Lucia Realtors in the PBA.
