CERES Negros Football Club (FC) settled for a draw with Davao Aguilas, 1-1 during their face-off Wednesday, September 20, in the ongoing 2017 Philippines Football League at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.
James Younghusband slotted in the free ball in the 27th minute to give Davao its lone goal, ending the first half at 1-0.
In the second half, Fernando Rodriguez headed in the equalizer for Ceres in the 73rd minute.
Davao FC, mentored by former Philippine Team U18 and U23 head coach Marlon Maro, bowed to Ceres FC, 3-1 in their last outing on September 16 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.
Before the Wednesday match, Ceres Negros defender Jeffrey Christaens said that although they came out as victors in the previous match, their game in Davao del Norte will be much different than the previous one.
“It won’t be an easy game for sure because they know how we play,” said Christaens, adding that, “I think they might play different. They want to prove that they are the better team but we want to prove that as well so we want to win again.”
“They (Davao) got some new players, they really want to build on their team, and they want to show that they can compete with us,” he added. (with reports from ceresfootball.com)
