Nena’s keeps Capitol winless with 85-73 win

NENA’S came out with a solid game on Tuesday to improve its 4-1 record and kept Capitol winless, 85-73 in the ongoing D’League basketball tournament at STI West Negros University gym in Bacolod City.

Badong Perez sizzled with 10 points while JR Mijares added six markers to spark Nena’s 18-13 lead in the opening quarter while Born Enaya fired eight points for Capitol.

Nena’s surged to 25-9 in the next canto behind Glen Ortaliz’s seven points as Remo Taronas added six points in a well-balanced offense resulting to a 43-22 advantage at half.

Capitol slightly trimmed Nena’s lead with a 19-13 run in the third but the latter remained in the driver’s seat going to the payoff period, 56-41.

Taronas paced Nena’s with 20 points as Perez added 18 while Bol Manaloto shot nine and Mijares had eight.

RR dela Cruz spearheaded Capitol with 14 points while Enaya contributed 12 and Jieh Dayrit added 10. (HGD)
