Tay Tung volleybelles defend crown

Friday, November 10, 2017

BACOLOD Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) secondary girls defended their title over Trinity Christian School in three straight sets: 25-17, 25-8 and 25-11 in the 2017 Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) volleyball competition at their home court.

The Thunderbolts captured the crown in the elementary boys and girls divisions.

Jose Montalbo, BTTHS vice chair for sports, said the back-to-back championship title is the fruit of their five-year sports development program for volleyball girls.

“I want to commend and acknowledge the efforts, discipline, and humility of our players. Despite our hectic and all-out training, they are still eager and are doing well in their academics. I have no difficulty in managing them. They are responsible, disciplined, and humble teenagers,” he said. “I also want to acknowledge the commitment of the coaches in developing the talents of our players.”

“We would like to thank our God Almighty for all our winnings, bringing honor and glory to His name. Also our gratitude to our school’s Board of Trustees, our Sports chairman Benjamin Lo, and our principal for the full support to our team,” he said. “And, to my wife, Marilou, for the support and understanding, and for allowing me to devote my time to develop the Tay Tung Sports Program.”

The Tay Tung secondary volleybelles left yesterday for the 2017 Batang Pinoy-Visayas Qualifying in Dumaguete City from November 10 to 16.
The team will then travel to Sta. Rosa, Laguna for the 2017 Rebisco Volleyball Tournament on November 20.
