Nopsscea 5 blasts Aklan, 86-37

NEGROS Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) took the first quarter, 20-8 and never let go of its lead to coast to an easy 86-37 victory over Aklan Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) represented by Polytechnic College at the West Negros University (WNU) gym in Bacolod City .
Nopsscea head coach Troy Sarabia's team vaulted to a daunting 30-10 lead with four minutes left in the second canto before going to the dug out with a comfortable 40-16 halftime advantage.
The host-squad continued the onslaught, ending the third period at 62-24 while Nopsscea's Rushmore Catalino ended the game with a triple in a one-sided match.
Playing Monday are the Iloilo Prisaa represented by the University of Iloilo and Capiz led by Hercor College.
In Sunday's opening salvo, the Ilonggos controlled the Aklanons, 89-44, while the Negrenses survived a 69-68 squeaker over Capiz Prisaa.
Meanwhile, games Tuesday pit Aklan and Capiz at 1 p.m., while slated at 2:30 is the most awaited encounter between Negros and Iloilo.
Iloilo bagged the championship in a controversial final in Antique last year.
Wednesday's games, on the other hand, are set at 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., with playoff scheduled at 2 p.m. with the number 1 team having a twice to beat advantage. (Henry G. Doble/Scoop-Bacolod)
