Talisay soccerfest unfolds Sept. 4

ALL systems go for the opening salvo of the Minuluan Talisay City Festival of Football 2010 when it kicks off on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Talisay City Football pitch.

Talisay City Mayor Eric Saratan, who is set to give his inspirational message, will be joined Executive Village Football Club president Rafael T. Lizares in the ceremonial kick off.

Meanwhile, Carmela Lizares, EVFC Ladies Football Team member, will lead the oath of Player-Parent Code of Conduct.

Seven events are scheduled in these skirmishes that include: under 12 boys (9 a-side), under 15 boys (9 a-side), under 14 girls (9 a-side), under 17 boys (9 a-side), under 11 boys/ girls/ mixed (7 a-side), under 17 ladies (9 a-side) and men's open (7 a-side).

Among those seeing action in the under 12 boys are (bracket A) Kabankalan, UNO-R, Bata ES, La Carlota FC and TSES; (bracket B) Clavary-A, DBTI-A, Bago City-A, FU-Dumaguete and ABES; (bracket C) Rizal ES, Victorias City, CHMSC and St. John Institute; and (bracket D) DBTI- B, Calvary-B, Bago City- B and TSES-B.

In the under 15 boys, those to vying for the title are (bracket A) RBLNHS, DBTI- B, St. Antonies FC- Dumaguete, CHMSC, Bago City and La Carlota City FC-A while (bracket B) DBTI- A, DLNHS, St. John Institute, La Carlota FC-B, CSNT-R and Sagay National High School.

On the other hand, seven teams will clash in the under 14 girls. These are the Talisay, EVFC, Bata ES, Matab-ang ES, Rizal ES, St. Anthonies- Dumaguete, UNO-R Bacolod.

Meanwhile, the under 17 boys have the most number of competitors with 22 teams. Bracket A is composed of CHNSC-Talisay, DBTI-A, Angelicum-Iloilo, FU-Dumaguete and Ma-ao-Louisiana; bracket B - UNO-R Bacolod, IVFMSF-Talisay, St. Anthonies FC-Dumaguete, DBTI-B and Bago City; bracket C - DLNHS, Victorias City, St. Benilde School, NOHS and RBLNHS; bracket D - La Carlota City, Kabankalan City, Jo Tankers-JBLCF (guest team), RBLNHS- A, BCNHS and Sagay National HS; and bracket E- Ma-ao OLPA, CSNT-R, EVFC, Himamaylan United and West Negros University.

In the 11 boys/girls mixed, 12 squads to brawl with bracket A consist of TSES-A, ABES, Don Bosco, UNO-R CHMSC Girls and Bata ES while bracket B is composed of TSES-B, Rizal ES, SJI, Magallon FC, Valladolid FC and CHMSC Boys.

The under 17 ladies category has 15 teams seeing action that include bracket A - EVFC A, Kabankalan, SBS, LCC, Ma-ao Louisiana; bracket B - EVFC B, BCNHS, Cadiz City, St. Mary Mazarello and La Carlota FC; and bracket C- DLNHS, FU-Dumaguete, Talisay, EVFC-C and SJI.

Highlighting the 2-day tournament is the men's open with 21 teams vying for the top honors. Leading the cast is bracket A - Talisay United Tead, Don Bosco, La Carlota, La Castellana-B and Real Negrense FC; bracket B- Cadiz City FC, Victorias City, Las Buenas FC, Magallon-A and Talisay-A; bracket C - Sagay City, Atletico Bacolod, Korea Republic, Bago City, Panaad-B and WNU; bracket D - UNO-R Bacolod, Panaad A, Kabankalan B, Cadiz City A and TUP-V Talisay; and finally bracket E with Talisay B, Doña Juliana, La Castellana, Magallon B and Kabankalan A.
