PROVINCIAL Board (PB) Member Nehemias de la Cruz, chairman of the Committee on Tourism, said there has been a drop in the influx of tourist in the province.

They are seeing it an aftermath of the recent hostage incident at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta that killed eight Hong Kong tourists and the hostage-taker himself.

"This is one of the concerns taken up by the travel agencies in their conference at the Sugarland Hotel," de la Cruz said.

Tourism stakeholders, including provincial officials, are still collating the exact figure on the drop of the visiting foreign tourists in the province.

"There were foreign tourists that canceled their reservation in some of our tourism destinations in the province," he said.

The drop is expected after Hong Kong and even other Asian countries released travel advisory against coming to the Philippines after the botched rescue attempt on the hostage-taking incident.

Airline companies also confirmed that numerous bookings were canceled by the tourists.
