TOWN administrator in Negros Occidental may face gun ban violation for shooting a civilian on Monday, police said citing its initial investigation report.

Pulupandan police said the suspect, administrator Federico Infante, surrendered himself after shooting Marcelo Sumo, 48, of Barangay Zone 1 at 5:30 p.m.

Police added that Infante has violated the Commission on Elections gun ban implementation, which started last January 10.

Sumo, who received a gunshot wound on his left ankle, police said, is a supporter of the slain former mayor Luis Mondia.

Pulupandan Police Chief Senior Inspector Joshua Villasis said Sumo was rushed to the Bago District Hospital for treatment.

Sumo was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

In its initial investigation, police said Sumo and his stepson allegedly mauled town administrator Infante and told the suspect to step off from his property.

Sumo’s residence used to stand on the property of Infante until it was demolished several weeks ago, the report said.

Infante’s caliber .45 pistol is now with Pulupandan police custody. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
