UNIVERSITY of St. La Salle Integrated School will represent Negros Occidental-Bacolod in the shakey's girls volleyball League (SGVL) National Finals to be held at University of San Carlos in Cebu city on November 19-21, 2009.

The USLS-IS girls volleyball team captured this year's shakey's (Season 6) Negros Occidental-Bacolod elimination in a sweep held last November 12-15, 2009, at the USLS College covered Court.

The five-time Shakey's provincial champion will be pitted against the winners from Iloilo, Bohol, host Cebu and National Capital Region.

Central Philippine University will represent Iloilo, Eastern Visayas will be represented by University of Bohol; Cebu by Pajo National High School; and Christian School for National Capital Region.

University of Sto. Tomas is the defending champion beating USLS-IS in the finals in Manila in April last year.

In winning the Negros Occidental-Bacolod elimination, USLS-IS scored a sweep over St. John's Institute, 25-12 and 26-24; against St. Josweph's School-La Salle, 25-10 and 25-12; against colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, 27-7 and 25-5; and 25-7, 25-6 over La Consolacion College-Bacolod.

St. John's Institute claimed 1st runner-up honors; St. Joseph School-La Salle 2nd runner-up; colegio San Agustin-Bacolod 3rd runner-up and LCC-Bacolod placed last among the five teams that joined the eliminations.

The USLS-IS team is also the defending champion in the Palarong Pambansa representing Western Visayas.

The team leaves for Cebu on November 18 and is composed of Chiara Marie Bantiling, Jane Frances Borrero, Innah Marie Brodit, Beth Joy Desquitado, Dancel Jan Elizabeth dusaran, ma. Arielle Estrañero, Fritz Joy Gallenero, Patrisha Kim Rasmo, Ma Gizelle Jessica Tan and Maria Beatriz Dominique Tan.

Head coach is Marilou S. Lozada, while assistant coach is Rebbie Delotindo.
