WEST Negros University's Bio Power-up Fuel Additive developed by engineers Paolo Petalver and Dioscoro Marañon qualified for the National Invention Contests and Exhibits (Nice).
The entry earlier topped the recent 2010 Visayas Islands Invention Contests and Exhibits at Amigo Plaza Mall, Iloilo City.

WNU's entry secured one of the top three spots under the Creative Research - Likha Category. It bested 84 other entries from the entire Visayas Islands group.
The tilt was spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology's Regional Offices in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas, in collaboration with the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (Tapi).
Themed the "Filipino Inventions and Innovations: The Way Forward," the event showcases the various inventions by the different academic institutions from all over Visayas.
Other categories include: invention, industrial design, utility model, creative research (Likha), creative research (Sibol-College), and creative research (Sibol-High School).
Three qualifiers were chosen in each category and each winner received P10,000 cash incentive.
The regional finalists, including WNU's Bio Power up Fuel Additive entry, will be competing in the National Invention Contests and Exhibits on November 17-19, 2010 at the Trade Hall 1 of SM City Cebu.
