Zayco welcomes Japanese contractors



NEGROS Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco welcomed the Japanese contractors for Negros-Japan skills training program, last Saturday at the Grand Regal Hotel.

Zayco, together with Negros Japan Human Resource Exchange Assn. Inc. (NJHREAI), Negros Occidental Business Development Center (NOBDC), and the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) had organized the Negros Japan skills training program for the people of Negros Occidental.

Zayco welcomed the 22 Japanese contractors led by the PJTSDAI president Yoshitaka Kukuminato; and Kunimori Saito, Multi Contractor Cooperative (Marucon) consultant; and also Roberto Montelibano, president of NJHREAI, Leah Tinsay, vice president; and Jose Marie Zayco, MBCCI vice president among others.

Zayco said the people of Negros are indeed very grateful to the Japanese contractors for the indispensable assistance and understanding with Japan. “We are optimistic that it will produce a more harmonious dynamic and productive relationship between our two countries. We have no doubt that this affair will instill more awareness on the laudable programs particularly the livelihood programs that had already benefited hundreds of Negrenses.”

Zayco lauded the Japanese contractors for sharing to the Filipino people the insights of Japanese construction, technology and work ethic that would truly help the Negrenses.

Recently, some 19 Japanese contractors had hired 30 skilled workers from the province of Negros Occidental.

Saito said they came to the Philippines, especially in Negros, to hire Filipino skilled workers such as carpenters and masons, and steel fixers (steel man) among others. He said 50 companies from Japan have gathered together to hire skilled workers from the Philippines.
Jose Marie Zayco, in the meantime, said the Negros-Japan skills training program would strengthen the foundation of the train and earn livelihood program by sending more construction trainees to Japan, and to share to the Filipinos insights of Japanese construction, “Its technology, the work ethics of Japanese construction and strengthen the bond of the Philippine-Japan Construction Exchange Program in Negros Occidental.

He said the Japanese contractors would hire 40 skilled workers from Negros Occidental, of which they now have 80 applicants.

Qualifications for trainee applicants are they must be high school graduates, at least 23 to 35 years old; with minimum of five years experience, with certificate of employment in the position applied for; two major co-obligators that will sign the contract; and certificate of good moral character/model employee.

He added that the benefits for the qualified trainees are a maximum of three years contract; free lodging, transportation’ net monthly allowance of Japanese Yen 80,000; and incentive bonus of about Yen 200,000 upon three years of completion of training and internship.

The batch 16-company host in Japan includes Marucon, Sowa Kougyo, Infields, Le-fes (Y.N.K), Takayoshi, Across Co., Arai Kougyo, Shizouka Steel, Soushin, Yonehara Kensetsu, Kitakami, Yoneken, Tobita Kougyo, and Fuji Kougyo.
