No Ifugao athlete or coach was disqualified in this year’s event, according to the RSAC of the Department of Education.
“The members of the delegates who were disqualified did not follow the exact documents and deadlines needed for the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (Caraa) like NSO original copy and their absence for the screening,” Department of Education (DepEd) division office education supervisor Jose Bogwana said.
The members and officials of the 2010 Caraa meet who led the screening were lawyer Marianne B. Sumacbay, Dr. Angeline Calatan, Dr. Juliette Pontino, Bogwana, Howard Poking, Dolores Buhong, Ferdinand Malagyab, Gloria Suayan, Flordeliza Javier, Joseph Estigoy, Diosdado Romero, and Ramil Vicente made the verifications and for the disqualifications of the concerned delegates.
Bogwana added the committee wants to make sure the athletes and coaches abide by the rules and regulation of the Caraa.
The screening is a way to determine any dishonesty from the coaches and the athletes with regards to the documents of athletes participating in the Caraa. These rules are being implemented by the RSAC and could mean a month’s suspensions from any DepEd sporting event. (Raul Estioko)
