200 list up for Autism awareness foot races

SOME 262 foot racers gathers Sunday morning in a fun run aimed to raise awareness on autism, which starts at the Burnham Park lake drive.

The fun run will feature the 3K, 5K, and 10K runs within Baguio with cash prizes for the top three finishers in each category.

“Generally, the route will start at Burnham Park to BGH rotunda, South Drive, Wright Park, then South Drive, and back to Burnham. But this will depend on the category,” said Jane Teodoro, of the organizing committee.

Organized by the Autism Society Philippines-Baguio chapter in cooperation with Play and Say Therapy Center, the ASP First “A” Fun Run for a Cause, is aimed at raising funds for continuing activities and projects for children with autism and other forms of disability especially those coming from the less fortunate members in the community.

So far, the organizers are only depending on entry fees of participants as source of their future funds for their project.

“Creating programs and activities which will help children with special needs cope with their conditions and help them function as normally as possible in today’s society is an objective we both share,” said the organizers.

“We would really need sponsors to help us defray expenses and raise needed funds,” added the organizers. (Roderick Osis)
