In addition, they will be pinning white ribbons to the people for a fee to raise funds for their advocacy activities.
The campaign will start November 25, 2009 and ends December 12, 2009. The 18-day End Violence Campaign will kick off with a motorcade around the Bangued town proper where the women will be displaying placards and tarpaulins carrying the theme of this year's campaign and slogans that promote the campaign.
This year's theme is "Mga kalalakihan kabalikat ng kababaihan laban sa lahat ng uri ng karahasan." (Men are women's partners in the campaign to end all forms of violence.)
Other activities to drum up the campaign are the conduct of radio interviews with Kalipi focal persons and federation officers from the different municipal chapters, holding of a provincial symposium on the various laws for the protection of women and children, and capability-building seminar-workshops for the stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Provincial Focal Person Noemi Bachiller and the other staff of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office continue with their training activities to prepare the women in the different municipalities to start their own businesses.
Relative to this, the Department of Social Welfare and Development - CAR Regional Office (DSWD-CAR) has been providing soft loans through its program, the SEA-Kaunlaran Program for the capitalization of the businesses of the women organized by the PSWDO. (Maritess Benas)
