THE Centennial Academic Festival will be launched on July 9 at the Baguio Convention Center with the Centennial Lecture Series as its first offering.
Living to life the centennial theme "Fostering a culture of caring," said Education Committee head Henry Tenedero, will be its aim. The lecture series will be immediately after the opening ceremonies of the five-month festival, which will be part of the city's centennial celebration.

Lectures, workshops, and charettes or visioning that goes hand in hand with the Baguio Centennial Commission's beyond the 2009 conceptualization will be featured since the education sector is critical in the education of the people on the centennial's theme.
The charettes will have three pro-forma questions on what the person likes about Baguio, what he or she hates, and what is his or her vision beyond 2009.
Gathered in small groups, participants will either interpret the concept through drawing or through prose. The data will be collated by University of Philippines students, whose outputs will be made public on September.
Balagtasan will kick off the activities on August with the Education Committee taking charge of the debate during the celebration of the month of the Filipino language.
This will be followed with the Arts festival spearheaded by Maca Arts Workshop and the EvEx's Gatan Ya Bangan di Kafagway by EvEx.
On September, the Drum and Lyre Festival by the group of Jogin Tamayo will take place. This will be followed with "Information Technology: Robotics, Mechatronics" on the last week of September through first week of October.
