Adopt-a-butterfly to save environment

A WEDDING coordinating company joined the bandwagon of groups that aspire for the preservation of the environment.

With the devastation wrought by typhoon Pepeng in Baguio, Benguet and in Mt. Province, Heaven's Touch Planners and Coordinators are raising funds intended for preservation and restoration of the environment and for donation to children who lost their homes and love ones during the typhoon.

An adopt-a-butterfly program has been launched by Heaven's Touch.

For P5,000, the butterfly, which is a symbol of Baguio's centennial will be used to decorate the centennial Christmas tree or the Norfolk pine tree at the foot of Session Road.

According to Heaven's Touch head coordinator Cynthia Tuason, the pine tree does not only stands as a decoration but it symbolizes past City Government policies that is friendly to the environment.

"With the destruction brought about by typhoon Pepeng, we believe that it is imperative that the preservation and rehabilitation of the environment be instilled in the hearts and minds of the people being that it is its destruction that caused the calamity in the first place," Tuason said in an emailed message.

Tuason said by adopting at least one of the 100 butterflies, donors likewise are helping to save the environment.

The centennial Christmas tree will be lighted on November 24.

Tuason said the lighting rites will be made more meaningful this year, not only because Baguio is celebrating its centennial but also because it symbolizes hope that Baguio will recover and give thanks because the city remains blessed and to unite the community.

For those interested to donate contact Heaven's Touch planners at 147 M. Roxas Street, Alfonso Tabora barangay. They may be reached in these numbers: (074) 442-2183, 442-9514, (+63) 917.506.0788, 09175062425 or email them at heavens touch_baguio@yahoo.com.
