Airport in Baguio to be improved

THE Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) is working on a project of improving the Loakan airport, the major commercial domestic airport of Baguio located in Benguet, an aviation official said.

Ronald Estabillo, regional director of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) said DOTC allotted P39.437 million for the project, which included construction of access road, improvement of terminal and administration building and rehabilitation of the water system.

He also said WCC Aviation Company is considering Baguio as one of its destinations.

“Hopefully this will materialize,” Estabillo said.

Meanwhile, DOTC Undersecretary Guiling Mamondiong said DOTC is also developing the airport in San Fernando and is looking at possibilities of linking Baguio City’s airport with that of San Fernando.
