BAGUIO has one of the strongest economies among cities of the country, said Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr.
All of the city's debts have been paid. Because of the absence of debts, Bautista said, all of the city's revenues go to savings.

He said the economic boost of the city can be attributed to some factors. He cited the implementation of the Red Tape Act. Under this law, corruption by government employees is avoided.
Bautista also cited the increase in the business investments as a major source of income for the city.
He disclosed there were 15,000 permits, which were processed by the city, adding to its coffers because of the payment of fees.
He said they also offer incentives and discounts to people who pay their taxes promptly. "These discounts encouraged people to pay their taxes on time."
A large portion of taxes comes from real property taxes.
Bautista said the revenue from the Panagbenga Festival also advanced the city's economy.
"The city didn't spend a single centavo for the festival as it was sponsored by various companies," he stated.
