BLIST tourism destinations promoted

NEIGHBORING towns may get more tourists as the Baguio, La Trinidad, Sablan, Itogon, Tuba (Blist) concept was pushed in the recently concluded Philippine Travel Market (PTM) at the SM Megamall.

Over 50 participants showcased their tourism locations in the city surprising many when the Blist areas were showcased as adventure destinations.

Bokod’s diving, kayaking, and rafting sites along the Ambuklao dam were promoted as well as spelunking and caving at Tuba town and mount climbing, camping, glamping (or glamorized camping) at Tuba’s Mt. Sto Tomas.

“They were surprised at the new destinations available,” Dangal Guevarra of the Baguio Conventions and Visitors Bureau (BCVB) said.

Package tours have already been made to cater to the many inquiries from the PTM.

“The younger market has been tapped as well as the foreign visitors looking for outdoor activities,” Anthony de Leon, BCVB chief said.

Department of Tourism Regional Director Purificacion Molintas said these activities will bring in a new crowd of younger tourists who want to explore the region.

The PTM packaged the city and the Blist areas for their natural caves, agricultural and eco-tourism farms, dams and extreme sports potentials.

Molintas said hang gliding and bungee jumping sites are also being developed. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
