Holcim launches Galing Mason Awards

Holcim Philippines, Technical Education Skills Development Authority together with Association of Construction and Informal Workers, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers and Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. launched in the region the Galing Mason Awards at Heritage Mansion last May 26.

The event served as venue for informing the interested competitors and the public in the selection process of outstanding masons at the regional and national levels.

Jonathan Torento, customer service representative and security manager of Holcim Philippines, said the competition is open to male and female competitors of at least 25 years old with two to three years work experience as a mason or mason’s helper and residency in the area for at least a year.

Torento added that the Galing Mason Award is already on its third year and will further give recognition to masons’ role in building communities and partners for development.

As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, nominees for the award need to muster three stages: the provincial, regional and national levels.

The regional winner will receive a cash prize of P25,000 and the Most Outstanding Mason in the country receives P150,000 cash plus a P50,000 social project fund, which will be given to the group, which nominated him or her.

Deadline for submission of nominees is on July 31. Nominees need to fill up the application forms and other documentary requirements, and submit these to the TESDA provincial offices for screening.
