-A A +AMonday, April 9, 2012
THE Department of Agriculture (DA) has laid down plans for this quarter of 2012, with a focus on its regular agenda including the Rice Program, Corn Program, and the Livestock and High Value Crop Development program.
Robert Domoguen, DA chief information officer, said an estimated P500 million has been allotted by government for the implementation of plans for this fiscal year, the highest amount given compared to previous years.
With an increase in budget of almost P300 million, Domoguen said funds will first and foremost cover major stakeholders comprising of farmers, along with provincial and municipal government units.
Domoguen added an increase in budget means higher expectations for the plans which were set to meet the needs of its beneficiaries.
Each program’s completion is dependent on the proposals from farmers as well as from provincial and municipal governments who belong to the programs. (Vaune Cura)
