UNIVERSITY of Baguio continued its winning ways late Saturday evening in conquering the Philippine Military Academy, 108-98 in the ongoing men’s basketball of the 24th Baguio–Benguet Educational Athletic League.
The UB Cardinals, the men’s defending champion easily disposed the Fort del Pilar-based Cavaliers notching their sixth win in as many games at the CCDC gymnasium despite a depleted line–up because four of its players where disqualified.

Even without the four players, the Cardinals continued to dominate their foes in six contests as they brace for tougher games in the remaining two play dates of the eliminations.
UB is set to face the University of the Cordilleras Jaguars later this week before closing the eliminations against Saint Louis University Navigators in the last playing date of the elims on Sept. 11.
Clyriel Elefante once again led the Cardinals with 29 points including six triples on six of 15 shooting from beyond the arc while Rolly Palacio and Kevin Orduña chipped in 12 points each with Bryan Basto, Richard Bilibli, and Darwin Balmores adding 11 points each.
The Cardinals started their onslaught right at the start of the ballgame allowing the Cavaliers only eight points at the close of the first quarter and enjoyed a 63–36 bubble at halftime.
The Cavaliers, coming off a big win against the Navigators the last time out relied once again to John Maverick Estabillo who fired a game high 43 points, 28 in the second half to suffer their second loss in six outings.
Although the game was practically over at half time, the Cavaliers showed resiliency in the last 20 minutes of the game despite trailing by 33 at the end of third period managed to cut down the Cardinal’s lead by 15, 84–99, with 2:53 remaining.
Johnford Ravina and Kevin Yriarte added 14 and 15 points each for the Cavaliers who despite losing to the Cardinals will be assured of a fourth place in the team standings.
