Christmas in Baguio music fest set Saturday

SINGERS in concerted efforts for a melodious Christmas in Baguio; would be the very apt description for the afternoon to evening musical festival on Dec. 15, at Upper Session road.

According to Christmas in Baguio action officer, Councilor Elmer Datuin, the four-part musical extravaganza shall feature various groups; church-based choirs, symphony, school-based choral and glee clubs, and concert bands.

It starts at three in the afternoon with “A Journey of Hope” Christmas Cantata with various church choirs volunteering to sing; United Church of Christ in the Philippines, United Methodist Church, Lourdes Parish, Holy Innocents’ Church, Youth With a Mission and Good News Church. Barangay Hillside participates with a number.


At five in the afternoon, the Musar Symphony Orchestra performs for the audience. The Musar music school based in Baguio shall show off their student-talents for at least an hour.

At 6 p.m., there will be university and college choral and glee clubs presentation. Expected to be filled with lights and color, the Baguio City National High School Special Performing Arts along with that of the Pines City National High School present their Christmas themed song and dance. With them is the nativity scene along with voices and dances are the University of Baguio, Easter School, Aloha group, Pinsao barangay and District 1. Other universities and schools are also expected to join the festivities.

From 8 to 10 p.m., the best of Baguio concert bands: Powerpuff, Up-Town Rascals and other bands shall perform. There will be fireworks display at 7 p.m. by the Local Government of Baguio, simultaneous with that of SM City Baguio.

Earlier in the morning, shall be the prayer walk from Melvin Jones grandstand, up to the Children’s Playground, Burnham Park. (Julie G. Fianza)
