BAGUIO City - Lets eat cake!
Jonidi Reyes's frustrated love for architecture has found its satisfaction in cakes!!!

Cakes of different sizes, shapes and color, a specialty shop for the differently made fondant cakes is here in the city, pioneering the art of cake making.
Reyes said the idea of making their unusual delicacies started one rainy afternoon last year when there was nothing to do. "I decided to try making a fondant, which I have never tried before."
Her first jab at this made her do more and more and more...and the rest is history. Her shop opened just this year and now, the word is silently spreading that a new cake maker is in town with her quaint shop, Cake Art, at 203 Bonifacio Street, in front of Saint Louis University gate 4.
Reyes said: "I took up architecture back then but shifted to Hotel and Restaurant Management maybe that is where got the inspiration."
Reyes is proud to say: "We do not use Styrofoam on our cakes. All of the layers are made out of cake no matter what shape it may be."
Guitars, Barbie dolls, cars, bags and even naughty cakes have been ordered so far from Cake art, and business has been brisk, making a maximum of five cakes a week or at the lowest around two orders for slow season.
Reyes is a Baguio girl through and through, taking her education at SLU. She also worked briefly at the Baguio Country Club and at local shop, Everything Nice.
She makes custom fondant cakes for Birthdays, Baby showers, weddings, christening, anniversaries, bachelor's party and any event in between. "We'd like to make a difference in cake designs. A cake made especially for you."
Reyes gets excited with differently designed cakes. "Medyo na bore ako sa mga traditional cakes that come in buttercream and fondant from a cheap 1,500 up."
Reyes says, "Whatever budget they have I will fit it."
The shop offers a full menu and its location makes it price friendly for students. Meals come for a cheap P39, up with brownies, which is the bestseller. The brownies come in rich chocolate brownie with walnuts, cream puffs and choco mouse (which is actually shavings from cakes she makes).
Her hubby Ralph and daughter Aiana help her make the cakes.
She fondly says: "It was my mom Digna who was into baking, kami lang ang taga kain."
Reyes's love of eating, architecture and cooking are all seen in Cake Art for locals to enjoy.
