THE Malt Room at the still-to-be-formally-opened Le Monet at Camp John Hay had a soft opening last February 2 with a surprisingly young chi-chi party crowd dancing the night away.
Kristine Meehan-Singson, who manages both Hotel Rembrandt in Quezon City, Le Monet and Artstream Hospitality, said that this is the second Malt Room in the country with the first, located at the basement of Rembrandt, opened only last January 12.

When you say Malt Room, it means what it says: more than 30 single-malt whiskey offered. There are also the usual tapas and house music developed by Guest DJ and Chef "The Duke" aka John Wayne Formica. With Malt Room Manager Donny Elvina at the helm and Baguio's eventologist Mike Uy, expect the creme dela creme of Baguio to be around.
What makes this Malt Room different from that in Quezon City (where Tim Yap and Eddie Garcia et al frequent) is the great ambiance of pine trees. With disco lights snaking around the trunks, it gives it a Scottish air, which of course is where the great single malts come from.
Come here especially on Fridays which is dubbed the Black Friday here in the Malt Room where Johnny Walker is offered at a discount. (JJ Landingin)
