IT IS the cheesiest time of the year when couples flock to fancy restaurants to catch romantic dinners for two. Jewelry and chocolate stores and even flower shops are in demand as men begin their meticulous hunt for awesome and exquisite presents to rekindle their love for their real-life princesses.

However, though many couples look forward to this month of hearts, there are some folks who consider February as a dreadful month. February 14 brings fear and a lot of pressure for dateless and single people to find someone who they can call their Valentine.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

So, if you’re feeling down for being alone and loveless this month, here are some tips to help you ease and beat your Valentine blues. These are the ways on how you can rock Cupid’s Day even without the roses, chocolates, kisses and warm hugs from your special someone.

Hearts’ Day is Family Day

Since February 14 is a day to celebrate love, why don’t you celebrate the occasion with the persons who have accepted your imperfections and have loved you ever since the day you are born? Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for you to celebrate your love for your family.

Whether you are dateless because of a recent loss, break-up or maybe your Ms. or Mr. Right has not yet found you, remember that your family will always have your back and will give you a lot of reasons to smile even without the person who sweeps you off your feet.

Either by shopping and strolling in the mall with your parents and siblings or by just simply eating together with your family while enjoying each others’ company, you can surely ace your hearts’ day celebration without pitying yourself for being loveless this month.

Bond with your BFFs

If you’re thinking Valentine’s Day is only for couples, then, you are absolutely wrong! Celebrating Cupid’s day does not mean you should always have to grab your romantic partner for a memorable date. It would be great if you celebrate this love month with those persons who know you best – your best friends.

If couples used to have Valentine dinners to cherish their love for each other, you and your buddies can also plan for a lunch or a boys’ night out to celebrate your friendship. A good laugh with your pals while reminiscing those golden days of your friendship will somehow beat the kilig factor you’ll get either after receiving expensive bouquet of flowers from your lover or while doing ‘holding hands while walking’ with your partner .

For the young ones who are still in search for their Ms. and Mr. Right, February 14 is also the best time for you to bond with your barkadas. You can go on a road trip to escape the loneliness brought by being dateless this season of hearts. No matter what destination you’ll choose, remember the memories you’ll be making and the good laughs you’ll be sharing matter most.

However, you really do not have to throw a party and go on a road trip just to feel better this hearts’ month. Sometimes, it is the company of your friends that will make you realize that you are indeed loved.

(B)eating Valentine Blues

Instead of spending the whole day watching romantic movies and tragic love stories, which will surely just remind you of being single or brokenhearted, why don’t you defeat the bitterness you feel by just simply eating the special treats and delights you cooked for yourself?

Aside from sitting in your couch while staring out the window waiting in vain for your prince charming or princess to come, you can head to your kitchen and spend the whole day whipping up tasty treats that will ease your sadness.

Be your own Valentine by preparing sweet treats for yourself. Even a simple cup of hot sweet chocolate paired with chocolate sandwich will do. By cooking and preparing your special recipes, you prove your family that you do not have to be in love in order to showcase them your culinary prowess.

Engage in Charity Works

Aside from Christmas, Valentine’s Day gives couples reasons to allot some money for them to purchase gorgeous, sometimes luxurious, presents for their special someone. That is why, one good thing about being single is you really don’t have to worry about spending too much when the month of February hits the calendar.

However, if you are single, have extra money and want to feel the essence of celebrating hearts’ day even without your Valentine, why don’t you try to spend time and spread some love to the needy?

Let other people feel that they are loved by doing charitable works such as reaching a hand to typhoon victims, helping less fortunate children and even sharing your time to people in distress.

By showing goodness to others, you are not only able to paint smiles on their faces. You will also surely gain a life-changing experience this day of hearts.

Love Yourself

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for you to love yourself. While being single and waiting for your right man and woman to come your way, be sure not to forget loving yourself before loving others.

This love month is the best moment for you to pamper yourself. Spend some time and even a small amount of money to do something special for yourself. You may go to a beauty parlor or a barber shop for your new look, visit a spa or massage house to relax and free yourself from too much stress and even treat your stomach with sweet and sumptuous dishes in town.

Stop worrying of being dateless this love month because in the first place, being single does not mean that you’ll never find true love and will be forever alone.

No matter how you spend it and whether you’re celebrating it with your special someone, buddies or family, Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate and cherish love. Be sure to take your time reaching out to people you love and who do love you. After all, you should not just wait for February 14 to hit your calendars in order to express and spread some love.

As the famous love song goes, let’s make each day with our loved ones a Valentine.

Happy Hearts’ Day to those who are taken, assumed to be taken, needs to be taken, waiting to be taken, almost taken, taken for granted and still-to-be taken.
