-A A +AThursday, August 9, 2012
AFTER months in the planning stage, the first GM's cup rolled on smoothly despite the late morning and early afternoon rains at the Camp Dangwa Firing Range with no less than Baguio Country Club General Manager Anthony De Leon and Cordilleras Finest head Police Regional Office Cordillera Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, leading the opening ceremonies July 28-29.
De Leon said, "This activity helps to promote camaraderie between the government and the private sector meaning, the police and us in the hotel and restaurant industry, aside from avid shooters within the Cordilleras and even the surrounding regions.
"It will also strengthen partnerships that would lead to co-instituting reforms in security especially during the peak of tourism arrivals in Baguio, Benguet and the Cordilleras,” he added.
General Magalong assured a continuing partnership between the government and private sector taking notice of the well planned activity.
Magalong said, "It is essential that we continue to propagate good camaraderie with the private sector since this would lead to a fruitful and lasting friendship. This friendship is a vital tool in the assurance of peace within our area of responsibility."
De Leon added plans are now underway for the second staging of the GM's cup.
