LAST October 5 to 7, the Children’s International Summer Villages (CISV) Philippines held its elections for a new set of officers during its National Board Meeting in Silay City, Bacolod. Atty. Maarin “Maggs” Cabato, a lady lawyer from Baguio, was elected as CISV Philippines President with a term of office until 2015.
This is the first time in 50 years that a CISV Baguio Chapter member was elected as president of CISV Philippines.
Prior to her election, Atty. Cabato was recently selected to be a member of the “transition team” of CISV International that will work to develop the details of the organizational changes approved by the Board of Trustees at AIM 2012 in Paris, France. Atty. Cabato is the only CISVer from the Asia-Pacific Region on the “transition team” and will participate in two meetings in Newcastle, United Kingdom in the next six months.
Atty. Cabato promises to strengthen the local chapters of CISV Philippines, namely: Bacolod, Baguio, Cebu, Manila and Quezon City and to effectively integrate the Junior Branch into the organization during her presidency. “CISV educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world.” (Brenda Lee A.
