Commemorating Rizal’s Death the JCI Way-A A +A

ON DECEMBER 30th 2012 the Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCIP) Baguio, Inc will commemorate the 116th death anniversary of Philippine National Hero Dr Jose Rizal. Pepe, as he is called, was shot to death in Bagumbayan (Luneta) in December 30th, 1896.
It has been a tradition of the JCIP-Baguio, Inc members to remember this day since the monument was erected in 1957 or 55 years ago while the JCIP-Baguio, Inc is celebrating 64 years of JayCeeism in Baguio City.
The unique architecture of the monument was recognized nationwide as it was the only one of its kind. The Rizal Monument in Baguio City was erected with the unique features of lime stones or popularly known as “Baguio Stones”.
The Rizal Monument was a project of the 1957 JCIP-Baguio, Inc officers and members led by the former Baguio City mayor, JC Francisco “Ping” Paraan in cooperation with the 1957 officials of the City Government of Baguio.
The joint project was acknowledged by the local officials by passing a resolution in 1957 congratulating the JCIP-Baguio, Inc members for their apt and meaningful project for the people of Baguio City.
This year’s commemoration was initiated by the JCIP-Baguio Senate with JCIP-Baguio Senate out-going president Monch S David and JCIP-Baguio Senate in-coming 2013 president Peter Rey Bautista.
The president JCIP-Baguio, Inc is JC Au Cabato while incoming president for the JCIP-Baguio Sunflower is JC Ma Janelle Acosta.
