Gubernatorial bet musters labor groups' support

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Five labor organizations with more than 4,000 members in the province of Benguet have pledge to support the gubernatorial bid of former Benguet governor Raul "Rocky" Molintas.

Manuel Binhaon, president of the 1,500 strong Lepanto Employees Union, and Steve Pomeg-as, president of the Lepanto Staff and Supervisory Union with 450 members, affirmed their endorsement for Molintas in a separate political caucus held Friday in Mankayan.

Earlier, Alex Badongen, president of the Philex Mines Rank and File Employees Union vowed to deliver 2,000 of his members to Molintas.

Agro-Food Employees Union headed by its president, Toto Andaya with 200 members on its roster, also expressed to support Molintas' return to Capitol.

The Camp 6 Kennon Road Small Scale Miner Association organized by Greg Wasan and 160 of his minions join the ranks of Molintas endorsers.

Close to 100 dependents of miners from Kalinga who are working in Itogon submitted themselves as volunteers on Monday for the lone Ibaloi candidate for governor. (Fred Puntawe)
