Wednesday, February 10, 2010

BAGUIO City Police Director Agripino Javier said there will be no worries for the 15th Panagbenga Flower Festival as police are working round the clock to keep the city peaceful.

“Even if it’s Panagbenga [season] or not, police officers are exerting the same effort to ensure the safety of the city,” Javier said.

Javier said the only difference is there will be more tourists during the Panagbenga, which means the police will also have more clients.

He said 21 police officers have been augmented by the regional police office for the Panagbenga fest this month.

Javier said there will be police officers manning the streets in the much-awaited grand street dancing parade, float parade and the Session Road in Bloom.

“The police officers will complement the security guards that Session road businessmen will hire during the closure of Session,” Javier said.

With regards to elections, Javier said Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) will not be lenient on police officers who will double as bodyguards of politicians.

“Although I believe that BCPO police officers will not do such a thing, we will file cases if they make a mistake of doing it,” Javier said. (Visha Calventas)
