Baguio YMCA schedules basketball seminar-A A +A

IN LINE with the recent updating of rules and regulations, the Young Men’s Christian Association is set to hold a basketball seminar for physical education teachers and coaches.
It will be a two-day basic basketball rules and regulation seminar, which will be held from June 29 to July 1 to deal mainly with the update FIBA rules and regulation in partnership with the National Amateur Basketball Referee’s Organization.
“The seminar aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of basketball for them to implement the correct interpretation of the new FIBA Rules,” said YMCA programs coordinator Bobby Vinluan.
The YMCA led basketball seminar is also endorsed by the Department of Education, according to Vinluan.
Vinluan said the seminar will also be a prelude to their upcoming tournament slated July 14 to include elementary and high school divisions. The organization is set to invite Baguio’s top schools and at the same time will also have the corporate division.
Later this year, YMCA Baguio will also host the biggest rainbow shootout on October 13 simultaneously with other chapters in the world.
Founded in 1844, the YMCA is one of the biggest organizations in the world with more than 45 million members with the Philippines having 1.2 million active members and most of them will be at their own gym during the day to shoot hoops.
The three-point shootout will be held simultaneously in the world, the Asia-Pacific region and the Philippine councils and will gun for a record knowing that there are millions of YMCA members worldwide. (Roderick Osis)
