Abra shooting spree continues

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Abra police are calling on the community to bring justice to victims of senseless shootings happening two days in a row.
On the late afternoon of March 3 Bangued police received a telephone call from a concern citizen that a person was shot along Washington Street, Zone 4.
Police proceeded to the crime scene and identified the victim as Macario Masaoay Jr., 51 years old, married and resident of Barangay Calaba.
Police initial investigation revealed that Masaoay was driving his motorcycle in Washington Street at about 3:30 p.m. when the unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle fired at him as they sped away.
Bystanders immediately rushed Masaoay to Seares Memorial Clinic for medical treatment.
Police failed to arrest the suspects while the victim is now fighting for his life at the hospital.
Another shooting incident left Rommel Atmosferra dead on March 2 while on his way home.
Barangay chairman Danilo Briosos of Barangay Mudiit, Dolores, Abra reported the crime to the police.
Police reports show Atmosferra was on his way home on board his tricycle when the suspects shot him several times. (Maria Elena Catajan)
