Rains possible for entire summer

THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Friday Baguio City and suburbs can still have rains even during summer months.
Weatherman Danny Galate of Pagasa Baguio office said the recent two-day strong rains “are among the manifestations which we will have rains even during summer due to the climate changes as the result of global warming.”
The two-day rains were partly due to the tailend of a cold front, including the effects of a low pressure area (LPA) which moved towards 420 kilometers north-northwest of Palawan as of Thursday.
“After the drought last year, 2011 will be marked with prolonged rains because of the so-called La Nina phenomenon,” Galate explained.
Because of the prevailing cloudy periods here with rains mostly in the afternoon, the temperature range has again moved lower to 13 to 23 degrees Celsius.
Galate added Pagasa is also closely watching a cloud band within the Bicol Peninsula which could possibly become another LPA in the coming days.(Aure Galacgac)
