TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Tapping the abundant water resource of the province for electricity, three mini-hydro proposed power projects were recently endorsed by Kalinga Representative Manuel Agyao to the Department of Energy (DOE).
Engineer Florante Balala, point person of the Office of the Congressman on infrastructure projects, said the Tabia mini-hydro power project in Pasil, Maling in Balbalan and Turod-Bulo, Tabuk City were proposed for development.
He said these three proposed hydro power plants will generate six megawatts of electricity.
Balala said this may increase depending upon the result of the final technical studies conducted by power development consultants.
Balala informed Agyao is working on energy development in coordination with DOE and the private sector as part of his initiatives in Congress to help generate power supply for the country.
“Initial technical studies show that these mini-hydro power projects are feasible and viable since aside from contributing to the economic progress of the province, they don’t inflict harm on the environment, on the populace and properties,” he said. (Peter A. Balocnit)
