Council backs bid to make elected officials CSC eligible

THE City Council called on the Senate to fast track the approval of Senate Bill 2735 and 2736, which grant civil service eligibility to elected officials.
The approved resolution penned by Councilors Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Nicasio Aliping Jr., Isabelo Cosalan Jr., Elmer Datuin, Peter Fianza, Edison Bilog, Richard Cariño, Perlita Rondez, Fred Bagbagen, Erdoldo Balajadia, Philian Alan, Nicasio Palaganas, Joel Alangsab and Karminn Yañgot calls for CSC eligibility for all legislators from municipal to provincial board.

CSC eligibility recognition has been granted to barangay officials.
Unanimously voting in favor of the proposal, City Councilors said the same should extend to councilors, vice mayors, vice governors and board members a well.
More than 16,000 legislators would benefit from the proposal, councilors of Baguio said.
The Philippine Councilors League has likewise been advocating this bid. Those who will be eligible are officials who served three terms, but not necessarily continuous.
