One hundred ninety-five new cadets will be officially accepted to the ranks of the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines (CCAFP) on Saturday, marking their new life in training.

On the hallowed grounds of the Borromeo fields, 18 females and 177 males will be incorporated by guest of honor General Eduardo Oban Jr.

PMA Superintendent Fred Peralta will welcome the new cadets who survived the strenuous summer training program.

PMA took in 206 hopefuls on April 1 for military training school.

This year, there were an original 227 who passed the PMA entrance examinations but only 206 reported for training.

The selection process started when thousands of youth hopefuls took the highly competitive PMA Entrance Examinations last year through the 31 Examination Centers nationwide.

Peralta said the April reception ceremonies marked the transition of young individuals from civilians to the military.

Peralta, as he assumed his position as PMA top man months ago, vowed maltreatment in the military school will be eradicated with stricter penalties for offenders to be instituted.

He said human rights in the academy will be an advocacy, as well as faculty development and curriculum review.

Peralta, a member of the PMA class 1979, took over the top PMA post in March 11 as PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Leonardo Calderon, the last of PMA Class 1976, bowed out of the military service.
