The lucky 16, who represent each barangay, started to attend university classes in June.

Barangay councilor Robert Namoro said the granting of scholarships is a great help to the families of the recipients "not only in the financial aspect but also the assurance of quality and affordable education worthy of recognition and appreciation."

A resolution was penned, lauding the efforts of the university through its president Johann Bautista, in its effort to provide education for deserving students.

The resolution said, "The university in the exercise of academic freedom for intellectual growth, the advancement of learning and research, the development of responsible and effective leadership, the education of high level professionals and the enrichment of historical and cultural heritage, offers a scholarship program as a measure to broaden access to quality education and as an active stance in promoting education as a whole."

"Sincere appreciation to the University of Baguio and to Mr. Johann Bautista is expressed for the granting of the scholarship," Namoro said.
