BANGUED, Abra -- Employers of the Social Security System (SSS) found the agency's Circular 2011-003 effective in decongesting long queues of members paying their contributions.
SSS Bangued branch manager Benedicta Garcia said a shorter queue of members paying their contributions and loans was observed since the circular, which revises the payment deadlines for contributions and loans, took effect this month.
The circular signed by Emilio de Quiros Jr., SSS president and chief executive officer, provides for "the revised payment deadlines for contributions and member loans from a general deadline on the 10th day of the month following the applicable month for everyone, to a distributed weekly schedule per groups of members distributed according to the last digit of the Social Security Identification (SS ID) number of the members."
The following is the revised payment deadlines following the applicable month: For those with the 10th digit of the 13-digit Employer Number ending in 1 or 2, the payment deadline is on the 10th day of the month following the applicable month; 3 or 4, the deadline is on the 15th day of the month; 5 or 6, the deadline is on the 20th day of the month; 7 or 8, the deadline is on the 25th day of the month; and those with 9 or 0, the deadline is on the last day of the month.
In case the payment deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, payments may be made on the next working day. Otherwise, penalties will be imposed on late contribution and member loan payments of employers and as well as self-employed and voluntary members; while late contribution payments of self-employed and voluntary members will be applied.
The frequency of payment will remain on a monthly basis for regular household ERs, and a monthly or quarterly basis for self-employed and voluntary members.
Payments on a quarterly basis will mean payments for all three months ending in a calendar quarter March, June, September and December.
The payment schedule for overseas Filipino worker-members will remain as stated in SSS Circular 32-P dated November 15, 2006. (Maritess B. Beñas
