DepEd bares schedule of schools competitions

BONTOC, Mt. Province - The supposed semestral break on the last week of October will instead be a busy week for the students, teachers and school officials of the Schools Division of the province, as they will be conducting various academic and non-academic festivals.

Schools Division Superintendent Mary Lang-ayan told members of the Provincial School Board they decided to conduct festivals on October 22 to 28, to be held in different venues to minimize the disruption of classes.

First to be conducted is the 5th Asean Quiz Bee Division Competition on October 22 at the Dap-ayan Hall of DepEd Division Office.

The winner in the division level will represent the province in the regional level contest on October 26.

This year’s Division School Press Conference is scheduled on October 23 to 25, to be held in the municipality of Paracelis. The conference aims to harness journalistic skills of students and pupils, promote functional and digital literacy through campus journalism and develop healthy attitudes in joining competition and promote camaraderie between and among participants.

The Music and Arts festival is set October 23 to 25 and will be hosted by the Saint Mary’s School and the District of Sagada.

The 2nd Division Kindergarten Festival is scheduled October 24 to be held in Namatec Elementary School in Sabangan. The festival revolves around the Children’s Month celebration theme “Local Council for the Protection of Children para sa Bright Child: Pakilusin, Palakasin, Pagtulungan Natin.”

On October 25 and 26, the Division Science Festival and the Division Mathematics Festival will be conducted at the Bontoc Central School and at the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School, respectively.

A National Statistics Office-sponsored 2nd Provincial Statistic Quiz in coordination with DepEd will also be held on October 26 at the Dap-ayan Hall of the DepEd Division Office.

The Division English Festival is tentatively scheduled on October 28, also at the Dap-ayan Hall.

Earlier, the Department of Trade and Industry also coordinated with the DepEd Divison Office for the conduct of Consumer Welfare Month Quiz Bee on October 18 at the Mountain Province Multi-Purpose Building. (Andrew Doga-ong)
