TUGUEGARAO CITY -- Vice President Jejomar Binay, whose mother hails from Cabagan, has confirmed his attendance during the Mutya ng Cabagan Grand Coronation Night on January 25.

This is part of the 10-day fiesta of Cabagan in Isabela, south of this capital city, which is marking its 10-day fiesta, ending on Wednesday, in honor of St. Paul the Apostle.

Cabagan, a first-class town, has been the business center of three nearby towns -- Santa Maria, San Pablo and Santo Tomas.

Among residents of Cagayan Valley, Cabagan is known for its pancit Cabagan. Its people are called Ybanags. But there are also Ilocanos in the town, following migration from the Ilocos scores back.

Mayor Christopher Mamauag has invited local officials from the province and nearby Cagayan to join in the celebration.

The fiesta highlight this year is the Kabayo-Kalesa-Kutchero (KKK) Festival, with the horse-drawn rig part of the parade.

The parade features a scare crow and the Zambali Festival participated in by high school students in a Street Dance Competition. (Milagros Apostol)
