LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Committees on market and environment has set a public hearing on February 10 to determine the pulse of the people if they want a mall here.
A public hearing at the municipal gym will determine the pulse of the public, compelling local lawmakers to finally decide on the thwarted Jarco Mall deal.

After the public hearing, the entire local council will take the committee report of each group and deliberate on the issue aiming to get a decision from the legislative body.
Jarco management, through its executive assistant II Etienne Regacho, recently wrote the local council on the status of their previous memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the municipality, adding pressure to the council’s move to decide on the matter.
Regacho is asking the councilors on an update on its lease agreement with the municipality, after a re-evaluation of the project was approved last year giving the local mall hope it could still set up.
Councilor Francis Lee, part of the previous council, which approved the delayed mall deal, said the status of the MOA is still legal. “There was no one who moved to abolish it, it is still valid.”
Councilors are aiming to revise the contract instead to satisfy the needs and wants to the citizenry through the public hearings.
