La Trinidad’s Strawberry Festival to push thru

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- A feast of strawberries will push through, with Mayor Greg Abalos saying a team has already been formed to plan the activities for the celebration in March.
Abalos said the team has been tasked to work on details of the festival to ensure its staging.

Preparations for the celebration will not hit a snag even if the suspension case of the entire legislative body here looms.
The entire local council is awaiting the decision of the courts on a case filed by local journalist, meting a feared suspension of councilors, crippling the Valley of lawmakers.
Abalos said the municipality is ready for any eventuality.
Councilor Roderick Awingan earlier passed an ordinance making the annual festival an institutionalized event.
Last year, various Cordilleran tribes joining the parade were required to wear their authentic costumes and play original unaltered music. (Maria Elena Catajan)
