At the checkpoint, a blue multi cab pick-up with plate number JBY-267 was flagged down for inspection. Police claimed they were able to notice two shotguns and an M-16 rifle inside the vehicle.
Upon verification, the suspects presented firearms licenses for both 12-gauge shotguns with SN 1214391 and SN 1214392 which are covered by firearms license control no. 1-B65188 and SN 1-B832436, respectively.
However, the rifle’s license with SN RP71623BG expired. The suspects failed to present permit to carry firearm outside their residences, which led to their arrest.
On January 24, a case of violation of PD 1866 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) as amended by RA 8294 was formally filed before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, Tabuk City against the suspects.
The suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of Tabuk City Police Station. (Rubyloida Bitog)
